A Lovely Lancashire-Yorkshire Railway Clock. This is a completely original fine eight day fusee movement clock made by John Agar of the famous Northern clockmaking dynasty. This is an earlier example of his work with the Bury address on the dial, dating from circa 1871, and a rare item to find in this restored condition.
The twelve inch dial is beautifully aged without being over-restored and the oak surround and back box are in great condition. There is an opening door to each side of the case and a turn-key latch lower door too. The hands have been replaced at some point and are nicely blued and the recently overhauled movement is a wire-driven beautiful example of mid Victorian elegance with chamfered shoulders to the top of the front and back plates, the plates being screwed together as befits a quality piece. More provenance to follow on this clock. Please ask any questions, advice is always free and I always have time.
Rather than trusting a courier of any sort I unreservedly recommend collection or I can deliver regionally/nationally. These clocks have a fragile glass and even the best courier damages items.
Also the pendulum will need reattaching within the movement so it is far better for a dealer to meet a client and talk them through the process, or set the clock up properly for them, rather than leave the client struggling at the other end on their own.
